The Mervin Doerr Memorial Scholarship

The Mervin Doerr Memorial Scholarship recognizes outstanding dedication and musicianship among graduating high school students in the Stratford area. We do this to commemorate Mervin's dedication, musicianship, and leadership within the band. The award is presented to an individual who exhibits those values.

We would like to acknowledge that we practice and perform on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and Ojibway/Chippewa peoples.

This territory is governed by two treaties. The first is the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant of 1701, made between the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee Confederacy. The second is the Huron Tract Treaty of 1827, an agreement made by eighteen Anishinaabek Chiefs and the Canada Company.

We are thankful to use this land to build community and celebrate with music.
