The Mervyn Doerr Scholarship The Mervyn Doerr scholarship, established in 1998, is granted to a recent High School graduate who is commencing their post-secondary education. The scholarship is granted in memory of Mervyn Doerr, a trombonist with the SCB for many years, who was taken from us tragically in an accident on November 8, 1997. The primary qualities we seek in a recipient embody those qualities that Mervyn exhibited: superb musicianship, skill, and a high level of commitment.
